When we met with the creators of Gaya Fusion, Rita and Stefano Grandi, it felt like we had just arrived on the doorstep of a long lasting friendship with a very cheerful and inspiring couple.
About a month prior to meeting Rita and Stefano we had left our house in search of a cheeky afternoon treat to cure our craving for something sweet – it was written in the stars for us to encounter Gaya Gelato that day.
After tasting some gelato a few months back in a small Tuscan town, from what was claimed to be the world’s number one gelateria, we thought that we had had the best. We were wrong.
Some food has it, and some does not – special ingredients that you cannot physically see, but you can taste and feel. These valuable components are passion and workmanship, and the Grandis have an abundance of it.
When any product has that “wow factor” there is normally a big secret about the way it’s produced. But as for the Grandis, their only secret is to have no secret at all. They want to share all of their knowledge, recipes and methods with the world; “I like honest competition” said Stefano, “it is up to them if they want to do it the right way or not.”
“We put the food in our mouth, not in our eyes no?” said Stefano. Using local and organic produce is not always the easiest way to go in the food industry today, and in a world of genetic engineering, pesticides, preservatives and artificial colors and flavors, many seem to take the “easy route” rather than the fresh and chemical free option. Food needs to taste good not only look good.
Gaya Gelato even sources ingredients from home gardens far from the store just to make sure that your mango or sour sop sorbetto taste just like that juicy, vitamin-infused fruit in your nana’s tropical back yard.
With a philosophy that is based on health and wellbeing, quality products, and the responsibility of mankind for better change, the Grandis are amazing role models.
So, if you really want to get your hands on THE BEST GELATO IN THE WORLD, then make sure you find Gaya Gelato located on the beautiful island of Bali.
